What are the common masks?

The most frequently mentioned masks now include KN95/N95 masks, medical surgical masks, medical protective masks, disposable medical masks, and daily protective masks.

1.KN95 mask

KN95 is our country's standard, which is equivalent to the American N95 standard. According to the classification of the national standard GB2626-2006 "Self-priming filter type anti-particulate respirator for respiratory protective equipment", masks are classified into KN and KP according to the efficiency level of the filter element: KP is suitable for filtering oily particles; KN is suitable for Filter non-oily particles. Among them, when the KN95 mask is detected with sodium chloride particles, its filtration efficiency should be greater than or equal to 95%, that is, the filtration efficiency of non-oily particles above 0.075 microns is greater than or equal to 95%.

The N95 mask is one of the nine particulate protective masks certified by NIOSH (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health). "N" means not resistant to oil. "95" means that when exposed to a specified number of special test particles, the particle concentration inside the mask is more than 95% lower than the particle concentration outside the mask.

2. Medical surgical masks

Medical surgical masks are masks that meet the "Technical Requirements for Medical Surgical Masks" (YY 0469-2011), and medical surgical masks are "used to cover the mouth, nose and jaw of the user, in order to prevent pathogenic microorganisms, body fluids, particles, etc. By providing a physical barrier.". It is mainly suitable for clinical medical staff to wear during invasive operations. The filtration efficiency of this type of mask for bacteria should not be less than 95%.

3. Medical protective mask
Medical protective masks are those that meet the "Technical Requirements for Medical Protective Masks" (GB 19083-2010). It is mainly used in the medical working environment to filter particles in the air and block droplets, blood, body fluids, secretions, etc.
Medical protective masks are divided into three levels. The filtration efficiency of non-oily particles at each level is 95%, 99%, and 99.97%.
4. Disposable medical masks
Disposable medical masks are those that comply with "Disposable Medical Masks" (YY/T 0969-2013). It is mainly suitable for covering the mouth, nose and chin of the user, for wearing in a general medical environment, blocking the oral or nasal cavity exhaling or spraying pollutants, not suitable for medical protection and medical surgery. The filtration efficiency of this type of mask for bacteria should not be less than 95%.
5. Daily protective mask
Daily protective masks are those that comply with the "Technical Specifications for Daily Protective Masks" (GB/T 32610-2016). Mainly suitable for wearing in daily air pollution environment.
